Will You Be Happy?

I was in the kitchen making breakfast this morning with the TV going in the living room and I heard something on a commercial that made me stop up and think. "When you finally get what you want will it be enough to make you happy?"
We always think if I only had this or that I´d be so happy and some of us are lucky enough to get those things we really want and what happens? We need more, we need something else to make us happy!
I don´t have any fancy answers for you. I don´t know how to teach you to be happy with what you have. In fact I´m guilty of being in that group who always wants more...In my mind, simple living is a wonderful idea but somewhat unrealistic...
I´m sure it is possible to live simply and happily but when it comes to things like travel, I can´t imagine thinking, " I can be satisfied traveling in the area around my house, it´s cheaper then a trip to Rome" NO WAY! I want to see the world, the bigger the trip the better and that makes me happy. I´m sorry folks, I´m hopeless. And when it comes to my house, I don´t necessarily need things to make me happy. I´ve always said to the Captain if he ever won the lottery he would know that I didn´t marry him for his money...I´ve dealt with not having much for many years, so I don´t need things to make me happy but I enjoy fixing my house up, even though I´m the first to admit I´m not the world´s best interior decorator. When I see something I like, I get it. We spend a lot of time in our home, why shouldn´t it be filled with things that make us happy?
What do you need to make you happy? Do you live a simple life and if you do care to share your best tips for living simply?
Being with my family makes me happiest. I could give up anything as long as I could be with them....My dogs also make me happy...I humanize them and I know that´s wrong but I do it and I have to tell you, they are just the funniest creatures ever...I wish I could bubble their thoughts in a picture book and read it on days when I´m feeling down because they always make me smile.
I love getting hugs and giving hugs. Especially big ol´bear hugs...that makes me happy. The best I know is to give someone a huge hug and feel them enjoying the hug as much as me and returning the hug as enthusiastically as I give it.
What is the best thing you´ve ever done for someone else which they weren´t expecting and made them super happy?
The fact that you have taken time out of your busy day to visit my blog makes me happy. That you care enough to read through all my silly thoughts and those of you who go the extra length and leave me a message with such kind words- this makes me so happy. So thank you!

Until next time my friends....

Wow, this is a tough one. I have also been waiting for the next big thing that will make me really happy. After a death in my family last year I concentrated on truly enjoying every minute I spend with my husband and children. It has all become even more important because I was recently diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully, it is a very early stage cancer with a good prognosis. Nothing like flirting with your own mortality to make you appreciate all that you have been given. :)

I guess I would say I am pretty content. I am not finding that I search out this or that so I will be "happy."

I enjoy a pleasantly decorated home . . . don't have to have more . . . we are comfortable.. I like my time with good friends, whether it be a hearty discussion, light banter and laughter, a long walk together, quiet evenings with my husband.

Joy bubbles over me watching the antics of our little ten pound Shorkie . . . Unbelievable loyalty and delight!

I am HAPPY . . .
