The Captain’s Birds

The Captain is heading back to balmy Brazil today. No…I’m not jealous….no I don’t wish I was going with him…who needs white beaches and sunshine and temperatures which don’t require several layers of clothing?? Nah….I’m good for another couple months of winter…then I’d appreciate a little spring and then eventually a beautiful Norwegian summer…that would be perfect.

The other day the Captain came in very excited- “Look what I captured with the camera!” Just the thought that he had taken the camera out at all surprised me…but ok..I looked…

That lucky dog!!! I’ve been trying to get photos of the birds but every time I go out there they fly away…and no offence, as much as it would be great to take photos of the little buggers…I’m not interested in standing outside in – 25C temps to get a – in my case- semi decent shot of a bird…cute as they are…so I’ll just share the Captain’s birds with you….another talent my darling has unveiled to me after 18 years together…the surprises never end!!

I did manage to get ONE photo of a bird for you…I finally happened to have my camera with me as I was driving down toward the marina..these guys are everywhere on this island..and this one allowed me to roll my window down and take a photo of him.

I saw one of these laying in the road one day when I drove Thomas to the bus stop and I thought perhaps he was injured, he just laid there as the car drove by…so on the way back I stopped and got out to see if he was ok…and quicker then lightening he flew away…so obviously for those interested, I’m more scary then a gigantic car coming toward you…..huff…;-))

For now at least I think I’ll stick to the dogs…they are much easier to photograph…especially the Swedish kind…just look at Nanna…anytime you put a hat on her she just stops…freezes as if she has a giant block on her head and if she moves it will crush her…and then she gives you this look….this…oh I feel so stupid look….and we all know we don’t want Swedish people to feel stupid..so I take the hat off quickly….but not until I’ve gotten a cute shot…

I’m off to work….have a super day everyone…

Until next time….

Ha ha! Great bird shots - and Nanna looks wonderful!

Lots of Swedish people wear these hats all winter long...

Is there no way you could pull your lovely children out of school and join your dh on his trip? It could be an 'educational' trip for them. :-)

BTW, I love your doggie pictures!

I do love the photo of the pheasant that you caught - he looks like he's posing for you!
Hahaha... oh, poor Nanna. She must love you a lot to put up with such silly antics! - But she is such a cutie! ;)

Wow. Those are some nice captures! You need to stay inside. Set up a bird feeder closer to the house. Get a zoom lens and a tripod. Much better than standing outside in the cold! And they ALWAYS fly away.

Cool photos your Captain got Amy. I especially love your shot of the Pheasant! Beautiful, but it looks mighty cold.

...lovely photos. I like all the frost and crystals on the bird feeder and trees. Your dog looks like a sweetie, and I love that hat! (My son would too...his favorite type of "hockey" hat.)
