Embarrassed…..

1259675235180_50

First of all let me explain that I am NOT politically involved. I do not take sides, I do not have favourites, I really honestly often have no opinions (that I care to share with anyone publically) about politicians. I also in no way want my blog to become a political arena. I have NEVER voted and many would say that is not something to brag about and I’m not bragging…it’s just a simple truth. I could also be told that I have no right to complain since I never vote and to be honest I usually don’t complain openly so this has never really been an issue- BUT……I can not hold my tounge any longer…

Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize and left many scratching their head as to WHY HIM? In my opinion (and apparently many others) he really hasn’t done anything to deserve it. There are many other worthier candidates out there who devote their lives to world peace, working day in and day out without any promise of recogniztion to ensure world peace who would have deserved this prize more then Obama. For whatever reason though Obama won it and the Nobel Peace Prize committee stod by it’s decision despite the controversial response by the world community.

However, I have to wonder if they aren’t just the slightest bit embarrassed by their choice now that they see what an arrogant winner they’ve chosen. In an article by one of Norway’s leading newspapers, VG, they are announcing all the traditional events that Obama will be missing during the peace prize trip. Things that have been a tradition with past winners, Obama will not be attending the following events; lunch with the King of Norway and the exhibition held at the Nobel Peace Prize center which has been made in HONOR of Obama himself, the traditional concert, and the children’s parade, and an interview with CNN’s Jonathan Mann who has interviewed the last 14 winners.

I am not sure if this link will direct you to the translated version of this article that I have read or if it will be in Norwegian, but if you have google translator use it to translate this article (if it’s not already) and read this..Obama cancels peace prize activities...

I was living in Norway when Clinton visited while still being in office and I do not remember nearly the fuss over his arrival as I do over Obama’s. It’s estimated that over 100 million Norwegian crowns will be used for security for Obama vs. the 69 million (88 million in today’s equivalency) that was used for Clinton’s visit in 99’. This is money the Norwegian people pay out of their taxes….as if they aren’t paying enough already!

I’m extremely embarrassed by Obama’s visit and arrogance over such a prestigous award that he basically could care less about- at least his actions lead us to think he could care less about it- I think the quicker this year’s Nobel Peace Prize ceremonies are over and forgotten the better for everyone…but I doubt they will ever be forgotten, more like remembered for the giant embarrassment it was. I just hope the Nobel Peace Prize committee learns their lesson and chooses a worthy winner next year so they can restore the honor this award deserves.

And as the great Forest Gump said, “ and that’s all I have to say about that!”

Until next time my friends….

Most people in Norway did NOT agree to give the peaceprice to Obama.
The truth is that this was the only way our prime minister could hope for Obama EVER to visit Norway, so my thought is that he and the Nobel commity leader (who by the way used to be prime minister for the same political party) got together and arranged it.
If Obama had any spine, he should have rejected it the moment it was announced! That way he would have saved himself a lot of embarrasment and at the same time saved everybody a lot of trouble and money.
Don`t worry about the money spent though, we (our government, that is) spend a lot of money on stupid things anyway.
I think your president will go down in history as a president who did not follow up on his promises. There will be no peace and little change I`m afraid.

In my opinion the best thing would be to put the price in a fed-ex box and ship it to him. When we are spending 100 mill Nok for his security, it is totally unacceptable to act as arrogant as he is. I think most of the Norwegian who liked Obama in the first place, now has a different view. This is not a normal award, it is the PEACE Price!

Yes Annecathrine, Norway the government has only itself to blame. Since they put themselves in this position, it's only fair they are the one who should be embarrased. If they wanna pour out money outta their asses..then hey, who are they (usa) to argue.. The US is in crisis!! Obama himself is probably very aware of the ridiculous announcement, but since he is too polite and not stupid he will of course not reject it.

Important notice: It's only been A YEAR !!!.. since he has been President.I would like to see you change the peace in the world and crisis in 12 months.. ANd you must not forget the shit that his predecessor Bush left the USA in neither. So before you start preaching about him not following through his plans to change the world..maybe you should give it a couple of years first..

..for you people who think he is too arrogant not to have a "cup of tea" witht he King or visit museums and sign autographes.. Seriously do you really think HE, Obama alone decides what he has time for ??? yes it's very easy to blame it all on the guy marked President, but please.. he is the most powerful man on earth..and with the War in Afghanistan and Crisis in the world.. I think visiting the little kingdom of norway is not top Priority..even though they decided he get's the peace prize..

Lots of opinions here I can see... I kinda liked Obama at first and thought he was the right person for the job. I think he may make some differences after a while, but the prize was not worthy. But I don't think hes arrogant. This is not a one man choice... He is the name, the face and the person you see, but there are a lot of people behind all of his decissions. But I hate the fact that my money is spent on him and his safty.

To mel,

I don`t preach about him not follow up on his word (Obama), I wrote that I THOUGHT so.
If I will be proven wrong, then I`ll be the first one to admit it, with pleasure. Few things will make me more happy than seeing Obama follow through on his promises and me beeing wrong.

There are many other persons and organizations that have already done a lot for peace. In my opinion, it should go to someone who has already proven worthy in action, not only in words or wishes.

Most Amaricans don`t even know where Norway is unless they look it up, so I can understand why this is no big deal to them. I don`t blame Obama for accepting it, I only wished he had declined if he can`t take his time to respectfully receive it.

He is not the only busy person in the world and correct me if I`m wrong, but doesn`t he have a fully operable office om Air Force One?
That plane is supposed to be equipped to run the precidency from, in case it should be necessary.

Read the second sentence in my first comment. It says it all.

Have a lovely day. :-)

i think the nobelcommity only did obama a disfavor by giving him this price at this point and time.obama allready has a full plate; the war in afhanistan the financial crisis and the healthreform [which absolulely is needed].then he has to come here and pick the price up.to me it just looks like a distraction for him.i allmost feel sorry for him and i hope he doesn't get sick from all the preasure.clawdia

To clawdia,
sick from what pressure?
If you are American, I can understand that you think it is a pressure, but come on!
Norway is NOTHING like the US.
No pressure here girl, unless you want it, then you have to work hard to get it.
In addition, Air Force One is like a second home. Bedroom, bathroom, salon, office etc.
There is nothing he can`t do there that he also did in the White House, except stepping out for a smoke.

and I'm with you - I don't get what he did to earn this prize - there are so many other deserving people.

I hear alot of anger or disappointment in President Obama (and please use his title when referring to the president, it's the polite thing to do) regarding the Nobel Prize and I don't really understand why. President Obama did not submit his own name and rejecting the prize is something that is not done. The comment about President Obama not having a spine is just a little mean. No one is aware of his schedule so I am not sure how one can complain about the President not attending events. I, for one, am not embarrassed or ashamed of our President; he is human and I pray that he has enough fortitude to continue in a very difficult job. Thank You

Are you kidding me??? Let's see what Obama has accomplished so far; Cash for Clunkers... oh wait, that failed and many auto dealerships are now out of business because the gov't never paid what they promised (HIS idea), how about his Czars such as Van Jones... oh wait, he stepped down because the citizens found out about his links to radical organizations, or maybe his administration/staff... wait, most of them owe taxes or have been caught lining their pockets, okay, let's try healthcare... oh wait, where will the Canadians and Europeans get their health care needs met then? And how will America afford it? Oh wait, we'll just PRINT MORE MONEY. Sure, what the hell... my great, great, great-grandkids should have to pay for me and every Joe Blow that doesn't feel like getting up off their butts. Nobel Peace Prize is only another notch on this arrogant presidents belt. My favorite thing so far is the guy he put in office with him that wants our animals to be able to sue us! WTF??? Does ANYONE know how to speak dog????
