So I’ve been missing in action the last week and with good reason. Our Japanese puppy buyer arrived with her friends last Friday and they were with us until Wednesday and then I had two days of work until the weekend. Now I’m off for almost the next fourteen days so I promise lots of (exciting) posts…Let’s start with the first one, while our company was here we took them to Oslo and visited the most famous park in Oslo, Vigeland Park. The statues were made between 1924-1943 by Gustav Vigeland. On the bridge are 58 statues which depict human nature. The most famous statue on the bridge is “sinnetagen” or the little angry child who is stomping his foot in protest.
Several of the other statues depict various aspects of human nature and relations between adults and children- every statue in the park is naked.
The park itself is gorgeously maintained with roses and wide open grassy spaces where you could picnic if the temperatures were right- they weren’t while we were there..but the view from the bridge was worth a stop..
As you walk past the bridge you come upon a fountain of men holding up a large bowl with water pouring out of it, there are gargoyles and pictures of death surrounding the fountain. My photo wasn’t that great but I’ll post it anyhow…I had a leonberger puppy in hand while trying to take photos..so be kind to me..
Past the fountain you walk up stairs that lead you to the largest sculpture in the park. A tower of 121 human bodies carved in granite reaching 17 meters into the sky. At the top of the sculpture are children- showing how life continues through each new generation.
Around this statue are several other granite statues depicting various types of human nature.
Had I been around in the days when this park was made I would have sworn he got this idea from watching me!!!! ;-))
Below is a beautiful gate you go through when coming up to the human tower statue..
When you are walking fluffy butterball pups around in a park in the capital of Norway you must expect that you won’t walk fast and you’ll be stopped by overly excited tourists who just have to take a photo (or couple hundred photos) of your babies..
We rounded our trip to Oslo off by stopping in with the King…I had THOUGHT I arranged lunch in honor of our Japanese guests but when we knocked at the castle doors…no one answered…so we took the opportunity to take a photo outside before we looked for other lunch options…
Our dear Japanese friends who will now and forever be a part of our lives..on the left is Noriko and Sou (our puppy buyer), Naoko and Bently (Naoko is buying a pup from us next year), and our wonderful translator Yukari on the right.
Below is the castle...I could be mistaken but the flag at the top is the royal flag, so I’d assume the King was home…funny he didn’t answer the door when we knocked…
Ok my friends, until next time…remember to smile and the world will smile with you…Have a great Saturday!!

I think it's so funny that you knocked on the king's door - what would you have done if he answered?
adorable and the shot of the trees and river is so very gorgeous
Char, my dear, we didn't really knock on the King's door- I mean had we done that it REALLY would be funny and probably would have gotten us tossed in jail or something..sorry you misunderstood, it was my horrible attempt at humour..;-))
There is so much of the world I haven't seen. That park is certainly on my bucket list. So glad you shared!
