Today Sarah and I went to the Antique and Collector show at the Viking Ship in Hamar. The Vikingskipet arena is a replica of a Norwegian viking ship (upside down- the bottom part of the ship is shaped like a viking ship)
This is one of the world’s biggest ice skating arenas and was used under the 1994 winter Olympics in Lillehammer.
Today however, it was filled with antiques and collector’s items as far as the eye could see…
I came home with these few goodies…an old milk pail which are great to use for plants (such as I’ve done here) or other types of decoration. I also got this old wooden shovel from the 1700’s and below this photo is a pair of old skiis I got which I plan to put up on my wall in the house. They are post war age. I’m assuming world war 2. I saw older skiis but they started getting into the four digit price range- mine was only in the three digit…which I LIKEY…:-))
My friend, Berit, from work joined Sarah and I at the show. Her son was also dropped off at the skateboard park like we did with Thomas and the boys skated while we girls shopped!! Julia wanted to stay home and relax- which is smart also!! After the show we went to grocery shop for the week (and hopefully longer if we eat normally) and I have to tell you- I’m REALLY angry when I see the enormous price difference between healthy items and non-healthy items. You want to choose healthy but your pocket book can only choose the cheap stuff. Take pasta for example- the fiber rich pasta which is brownish costs 24kr for a box of fiber macaroni while a box of regular macaroni costs 12kroner! Fish costs 45kroner and up for three to four tiny filets while frozen pizza costs around 35kr!! Iceberg salad is now up to 17kroner for a head…if the government really wants people to eat healthy why do they make the healthy foods so expensive? There should be some sort of rebate for choosing healthy- I’d think in the long run the government would save money on health care costs for the people who become overweight because they can’t choose the healthy foods.
Uff…that was my rant and rave for this evening…now we will have our very unhealthy hamburgers and fries (little man’s favourite) for dinner. I did buy fish despite the cost and I bought tons of healthy snacks like veggies for dipping and nuts and no pop!! Was proud of myself for that!!
Have a great night everyone!!!

The govt of DK is actually working on a plan to give us a tax credit for healthy foods... nothing decided yet, but at least it is a discussion point....
wonderful finds - the skiis are gorgeous
