Cross Country Skiis and Doctors..

This is one of the many cross country ski paths that have been made around the area where we live...the locals were telling me there haven't been this many made in several years because there hasn't been that much snow. Obviously this year we met our quota and the ski paths came out in abundance..it's quite peaceful looking, I could ALMOST think to try cross country skiing with views like this...in fact if I had the boots I'd probably try because I have skiis but somehow managed to lose my boots when we moved...huh....I went and checked on prices for the boots once a few weeks back but they wanted over 1000 Norwegian kroner for them! I have heard of whole ski packages (skiis, boots, poles) for about 1000kroner or 1500kroner so I wasn't about to buy JUST boots for 1000kroner. Now the sports stores are having big time sales on ski equipment and I'm tempted to get some boots..but figure there is no rush since I'm hoping and praying the snow is on it's way out and spring is around the corner. (We are allowed to hope right?)

I've reached that point where I'm getting sick of the snow...it's not beautiful and magical anymore it's cold and wet and starting to get brown and ugly...I'd love to see the springtime blooms and blue skies..sunshine and birds chirping. I know I know...almost sounds like a Mary Poppins film...still, it's gorgeous here in the spring...actually every season has it's charm here and when the charm wears off you are ready for the next and we are all ready for spring now.

I have been struggling with what I think is a sinus infection though I don't have a runny nose just a plugged up one ALL the time..of course a smart person would go to the doctor but I'm a bit slow...not really a big fan of doctor's and especially Norwegian ones (or the foreigners who work in Norwegian health care facitilities) I never feel like you get taken seriously unless you have a visible problem. If I just go in and say I have a stuffy nose and have had one a LONG time they will tell me to take some cold medicine and nose spray and relax...nothing more. I went in awhile ago with severe pain in my elbow and was told I have tennis elbow. I asked the doctor what she could do about it, she said she had a shot of cortison she could give me and I'd need to come back in a couple weeks for another shot. I said ok, how long will it take before I get better? Oh you'll never get better she told me with a smirk on her face. HUH? Nope, no matter what you do you will never get better you can only get some relief through these cortison shots. I hate shots..but have to admit I felt great after the cortison shot...so great in fact that I still didn't feel any pain two weeks after I had gotten my shot so I didn't go back for the second one and guess what.....I'm feeling the elbow again...ugh..so I know I have to go back and I've been considering taking up my sinus suspicion also and a few other things but I am dreading it. My doctor is from the Netherlands and she is a super nice lady but I almost never understand her crummy Norwegian. I've thought several times about speaking English with her but haven't gotten so desperate just yet. Ugh...a lot of my doctor hang up is probably psychological so I'll probably book an appointment in the next day....or week or so...and go...maybe...probably...

In the meantime folks...have a great Saturday!!!

What a glorious photo! Well worth buying a packet of skiis and shoes, or maybe just shoes in the sales... for next year. Cross-country skiing is great fun! Even I can do it - sort of...

Make sure you visit the doctor - a sinus infection is no fun.. nor is tennis elbow!

I'm sorry to hear you have sinus problems and elbow problems...and really sorry to hear you have strange doctors there.

Your picture is absolutely gorgeous! I'm not athletic; but, I did take up cross country skiing when we lived in Idaho. I had to do something to get through the long, cold winters. I loved skiing the wheat fields outside of town. Your trails are so well-groomed. Are the dogs allowed to go with you? According to many enthusiasts where we lived, dogs made the trails tacky...I thought they made them look like so much fun was being had!

sorry you're not feeling well - the landscape is gorgeous and so different than anything I see.

It's a great shot, but I totally underestand your lack of enthusiasm for the snow that persists in wearing out its welcome.
And there's nothing wrong with a good Mary Poppins movie.
Sorry to hear about the sinus trouble and that darn tennis elbow! Try webmd.com to see what they say you can do.
