Mother's Day in Norway

As I wrote in the previous post, today is Mother's Day in Norway. So today the kids and I went outside and shovelled snow...exciting huh? Well it gets even more exciting, Sarah and I shovelled poop from the dog pens- frozen poop....that was REALLY exciting....and then we began shovelling the snow on the veranda but got really tired of shovelling...so we decided to go for a walk with the dogs. We took a one and a half hour walk through DEEP snow...my goodness it was hard...thought several times it might be my last Mother's Day...but I took a few breaks, caught my breath and kept going. The smarty pants daughters of mine would stand under trees full of snow waiting for me to come so they could shake the tree. I got wise and kept my distance...they just thought they were so cute....

Came home and Julia made us some waffles, while she waited on them to be cooked she'd play a little on the guitar. She is self taught and is really good!! I love the pictures of her..it's typical Julia to wear a hat, apron, and pants which show how wet they got on our walk...hahahaha...We set the table and made a fire in the wood stove and the dogs found their places by the warmth of the fire while we enjoyed our waffles. A lovely Mother's Day!!

Ok, first I LOVE your fireplace! I have read about it often, but never seen the whole thing.. it is amazing!

And 2nd, I am thinking that frozen dog poop does not smell as bad as its unfrozen counterpart!
