Dog Shows, Auction Time.. and Baby Pics

Ok, I keep my life simple, it keeps the worries down and I like that. But I worried....last night, while I was suppose to be sleeping...woke around 330AM and started thinking....thinking about Sarah taking a plane today, driving the one and a half hour to the dog show and then twenty more minutes to the airport to send Sarah off....fear of slippery roads kept me looking at the clock every hour until seven when it was time to get up....so I was needless to say a bit groggy this morning. Thought seriously about sending my big 16 year old off with the train and let her check herself into the airport and saying to heck with the dog show...but I hated the idea of sending Sarah off by herself...I know I have to do it someday....but not today. So off we went...thinking we had everything with us...got to the show without problem (THANK GOODNESS) and started to unload the two dogs with us and looked high and low for the dog bag with start numbers, brushes, show leads, camera, etc....but NO BAG!!! WHAT THE HEY HEY??? I swear I packed it and took it with us...but no, no where. So we had to go in and get a new start number, buy new show leads, a brush and a comb, poop bags, then we found some other fun stuff...a stuffed pig, a rope toy with some rubber hot dog/tennis ball looking thing on it in hot pink....and some anti-slip spray for their feet. I had cola for their feet...in the bag....at home...grrrrr.....While waiting to go in the ring, we met a young couple who have contacted me through email about having a male pup from our upcoming litter live with them. There is a deal here in Norway they call Fòrvert. A Fòrvert either gets a dog for free or pays half price (there is different deals) and in return you have certain breeding rights to the dog for a period of time. You share some of the expenses and it's a way to keep going forward with your breeding work while not having a thousand dogs in your home...sweet (I mean Crazy) as that idea sounds...So this couple was interested in that and my initial impression of them is great. We hit it off, it felt comfortable, they asked a lot of questions and seemed pleased with my answers. Laughed at my horrible attempts at humour (like when I pointed to Nanna's butt and tried explaining how I liked her bigger rear end then Isabella's....and that I was a fan of big butts....hardy har har...they laughed at that, thank goodness) So they will come for a visit in March and we can see if this could be an arrangement for all of us. I'm very happy about this. While I was busy gabbing, my darling Beara (Sarah) took both girls in the ring and did a great job. Both girls got first prize in the first round, then in the second round, Nanna got second in her class with an honor prize and Isabella got fifth in her class without anything more then a great critique. The judge said if she had been in full coat she would have gotten more- a bad excuse I think but ok...judges will be judges. Sarah was completely happy that I was not stressing her out with tips and advice and was content entertaining our possible new dog friends...hahahaha!!! I was proud of her, she is such an excellent handler and the girls were wonderful with her!!!

After the show we drove to the airport outside of Oslo and aired the girls and then went in for some lunch. After another airing of the girls and everyone of we humans taking a potty break, we sent Sarah on her way and began our journey home. I love airports....I love watching people. I know I'm probably weird, but I am fascinated by people and airports are amazing places...so many stories walking within one large building...I always wonder who is going where, where do people come from, did they have fun while they were here or there? Are they saying goodbye to a loved one, or hello to a loved one? Is it business or pleasure? Saw a lot of skis so I imagine a lot of Norwegians are heading for the alps or ski resorts around Europe now that we are going toward winter vacation in the schools here. Sounds exciting...even though I can't ski!!!

Now we are home and it's so good, I'm so tired. Tomorrow I'm planning on sleeping long (which means maybe 9 if I'm lucky) and then a nice breakfast of french toast with the incredibly expensive maple syrup we got tonight- to tiny bottles (needed to feed all of us) for about 10 US dollars!!! Shocking isn't it? Needless to say we don't have French toast very often...but it sounded so good. After breakfast, I'll probably run Bonnie and Clyde (Thomas and Julia) to the ski hill and then I'm heading to an antique auction down here on the other side of the bridge...I LOVE auctions and they aren't very often, so when I get the chance to go I'm GOING!!! I love to watch people there also...usually a lot of older people there and I can't understand why they are buying stuff they probably already have...don't they want to share the goodies with we younger people??? When I lose something I really wanted...to an older person, I get spiteful and say something bad under my breath...like...."Ok old man...enjoy...I'll get that at your auction later..." oooo I'm so bad...shame on me!!!

Tonight we got more baby pictures of Jenny...after her first bath..isn't she just to eat up??? Ok, the kids are begging for dinner...so I'll close here...I'll let you know if I come home with any goodies from the auction tomorrow. Thanks for explaining the tree business for me...it's better to know that they are being cut for the benefit of the whole forest, but it's still sad...I love the woods....I can't explain the peace I feel when I walk through them...I'll probably tie myself to a tree if they ever come and try and take the trees right outside my house here...we are completely surrounded by trees...and it's so beautiful...

Have a wonderful Saturday evening folks...oh and of course a VERY HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to you all!!!!

This little puppy is adorable!!!

So sorry you didn't have your main bag for the show. You overcame the obstacle, though and got some fun stuff while you were at it, sounds like. What fun! A dog show!

Sounds like an action-packed day! Have I missed something - where is Sarah going?

Hope you got your lie-in... Kids woke us up at 5.15 am yesterday, and 6.45 this morning!
